Being Mexican is great, I'm not gonna lie. I love the food, the culture, the music (sometimes) and I think that comes across pretty well, but there's one thing I don't like about being a Mexican chick. My 'stache. Yep, if you didn't know, us Mexican girls are prone to getting a little bit hairy on our upper lips. Sure, it's not usually too thick or anything but it's a bit of an annoyance that we probably don't talk about too often.
I've done all kinds of depilatory methods on my upper lip and eyebrows. Waxing, threading, Nair, laser and even electrolysis. If you're wondering, electrolysis is probably the most painful even on the lowest settings and it didn't work too well for me, so no, I do not recommend it. Most effective? Laser, hands down. It is painful, but it's pretty much like waxing; hurts like a mother for three seconds but you don't have to do it again for 2-5 weeks. Anyway, so the point of this post is to tell you about my experience with Nads, which is a water-soluble sugary-molasses mix that you use like wax. Slather it on, put on a cloth strip, rip it off and bam, hair is gone. Or is it?
I read the directions carefully because the last thing I want to do is fuck up when I have to work the next damn day. Use cleansing wipe and dry completely. Okay, did that. Apply gooey stuff in direction of hair growth. Okay, did that. Place cloth on the gel, smooth down 3-4 times in direction of hair growth. Okay, did that. Now rip it off against the hair growth, close to the skin and pull skin taut. Okay, did that... Now, why is my upper lip not completely bare?
I tried several times and only once got some fine hairs to come off, but no real luck. It could be because it was hot today, and hot in my lavatory. Or maybe I put a bit too much. I'm going to use the exfoliating scrub tonight and try again tomorrow to see what the results will be, but for now it's looking like a dud which is a little bit of a shame since I wanted it to work so much. It's water-soluble! It's made from natural ingredients! You don't have to warm it up! It's non-toxic! The cloth strips are re-useable! So many pluses, except... it doesn't work just right... yet.

House arrest (A Degrassi rant)
Some of you may know that I watch this show called Degrassi. It's in it's 10th season and while I still like the show, I noticed there were an ass-load of plotholes. So, here I am and I'm gonna friggin' rant about it.
Let's talk about plotholes...

Let's talk about plotholes...
- Towards the beginning of the season, Clare gets lasik eye surgery. People assume she's gotten her boobs done. That stupid slutfaced Jenna hears about this and tells Clare off about not loving her body the way God intended. So, if Jenna is all about being at peace with your body... How come this bitch ends up taking diet pills because she starts to get fat?
- In season 9, Jenna McSlutfaced Whoreson steals Clare's boyfriend, K.C. Alli is Clare's best friend and is pissed about Jenna double-crossing her. She gets pissed again when Jenna accuses Clare of getting plastic surgery. Somewhere in the season, Alli actually starts to hang out with and talk to Jenna, without any real reconciliation. What?
- Another thing about Jenna is that she ends up being PREGGERS by her boyfriend, K.C. Uh... what? We never ever hear about them being sexually active until this. Usually when a relationship is consummated on Degrassi there is a scene or some kind of allusion to the act.
- Drew is the new big man on campus. He's supposed to be hot or some shit. He also wants to be the new quarterback at Degrassi. These are both titles held by Riley. It comes to light that Riley is a closeted gay boy. Drew uses this information to blackmail Riley. Okay, fine. Then it's revealed that Drew's brother is a transgendered female. Okay, fine. Thing is.. Drew is actually really accepting of his brother. So wait, he doesn't like gay guys, but he embraces the transgendered?
- Wesley is this dorky kid who can never catch a break... So I guess I shouldn't be surprised when I noticed that he's wearing two casts. One on each broken arm. Problem is... I DON'T FUCKING REMEMBER HIM BREAKING HIS ARMS.
- This isn't really a plothole but I have two names for you. Sav and Holly J. For those of you who don't know, Sav is a bumbling idiot who used to be in a rock band and can't hold onto a good girlfriend because he's an IDIOT and because he's scared of his strict Indian mommy and daddy. Holly J is a former stuck-up rich bitch who turns out to be a really awesome, if not overly ambitious chick. In season 9 she is class/school president and does a damn good job of it. She's made to be a leader. In season 10, Sav's dumbass decides to run for school president after finding out that he's kinda popular. Either way, he friggin' wins because people think he got his then-girlfriend pregnant or whatever and then he realizes he's in WAY over his head because he has ZERO leadership skills. So then Holly J becomes the vice president by default and she helps him out with his president shit. Turns out Sav thinks Holly J is a hot piece of NOT Indian ass and is all like, "Hey, I like you. You make me bashful and shit. Let's go out." Holly J, who had just broken up with douchebaggish (but still loveable) Declan, of course declines much to our joy... But Sav keeps it up and Holly J caves after they make a deal that whatever romantic crap happens between them ends after graduation. WHAT?!? It doesn't make sense... AT ALL.

Pretty doesn't mean good
So, anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely LOVE cupcakes. I'm a fanatic. Even my pseudonym has the word "cupcake" in it. Well, some time ago my good friend, Lila mentioned to me that famous cupcaketieer Sprinkles had a location here in town, so last weekend I took a visit, especially since I follow Sprinkles on Twitter (twitter.com/sprinkles) and every day they give out a secret word that gets you a free cupcake. Free and cupcake in the same sentence? I'm a goner. So, anyway, here are some pictures of the cupcakes and my review.
The cupcakes in their natural state. Here you see, clockwise from top left, Vanilla, Dark Chocolate, Strawberry, and Lemon. As for my thoughts on the cupcakes?
I'm very sad to say that I was not very pleased with my purchase. Each cupcake is a whopping $3.25. Yes, they're big and have a heaping helping of frosting BUT I just didn't like how they tasted, except for the Red Velvet which was very, very yummy. For me, a cupcake has to be the whole package. The cupcake and the frosting have to work together to make this confection a celebration of flavors. The cupcakes tasted very bland with no real taste, but the frosting was very rich and buttery. After a couple of bites, I was sick of it. The strawberry cupcake tasted like banana bread. I like banana bread but I was expecting strawberry. The lemon was also pretty good, but I had the same frosting problem. The only time I'd go back to Sprinkles is for a free Red Velvet cupcake. So, I will most likely be there again very soon.
Later, Cupcakes!
